A nice zoo just outside the centre of Berlin.
Berlin zoo was a good walk from Brandenburg gate but easily accessible by various modes of transport. The zoo itself houses a good variety of animals and enclosures to have a look at. It has all animals large to small insects. It’s also really clean and has different food offerings while inside too. Although it was very quiet inside the zoo so not too many people standing in the way of the enclosures. We thought they had a kiwi bird but they don’t which is sad. Maybe another zoo. The zoo itself is having some new rhino enclosure built so they are off show at the moment at the time of our visit. Overall a good half day trip to visit the zoo.

Take your time
If you're in a hurry, this zoo is not for you; if you can't walk five hours straight, this zoo is not for you; if you have another activity during the day, reschedule it. We went right on opening, at 9am and spent almost 30 minutes only watching the elephants(my husband's fault). We're a fit family of 4 adults and two teens, and this zoo is so big, so colorful, so diverse and so COMPLETE that you might as well spend the entire day there and when we finished we were beyond exhausted; if necessary, please have lunch there
