Scott Field Heritage Air Park, Illinois, United States

Close up views

This park is outdoors and has just the planes, no visitor building or other facilities. But, the planes are right there in the open for you to look, touch, walk around and generally get that up close and personal look that many places don't have if the displays are roped off, or have "do not touch" signs. The park looks quite recent and all the planes are in good condition. The park is right outside the gate to Scott Air Force Base, so you don't have to enter the base to get to it. There is plenty of free parking and there is no admission charge either - in fact there is no attendant at all. It is a particularly nice display if you are of an age when these planes were part of your life as a member of the military.

A Few Nice Vintage Transport Aircraft
This is a small collection of transport aircraft that are well maintained. You do not have to enter the Air Force base to walk around the airplanes. Scott AFB is the HQ for Air Mobility Command and I was hoping to see a much better variety of aircraft, but still a nice place to visit.

Fun place for aviation enthusiasts to see some classic Air Force planes on display.
This neatly kept and well maintained air park is home to a half dozen former air force planes of different types and sizes. Just outside the entrance to Scott Air Force Base, the park is open to the public with easy access parking nearby. Great for kids and families.
