Messing about on the river
We hired a 60ft narrow boat Cedar from the Wyvern Shipping Company. We arrived and was given our lesson from Alex he came with us to first lock and explained all the procedures very good service. The boat has everything you need for a five night stay and is fully kitted out with all the kitchen utensils you need for cooking. Two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. well heated with radiators. well maintained and spotless inside. We stopped at The three Locks pub very good food. Also the Navigator, Ye Old Swan and the Globe all very good menus. We got as far as Thrup and then turned round to make sure we got back on time. There were lots of boats moored up on the way which slowed us down. we went over to aqua ducks which was fun. Saw lots of ducks and kingfishers nice views. Sadly some parts of the canal are overgrown and not may rubbish areas. Also we encountered a unmoored boat in the middle of the canal. We had a fantastic time with friends great experience would recommend. Especially Wyvern Shipping excellent service well looked after boats. We had a fantastic time with friends

Lovely place to Walk
The towpath along the canal are generally well kept and easy to walk along. Plenty to see, wildlife, boats and even the odd pub to rehydrate. I love walking the many miles of this popular canal.
