Nuremburg Trial Courthouse, Bavaria, Germany

Chilling History

To actually sit in the courtroom where the Nazi trials took place was a chilling experience. They have a brief presentation where they superimpose the pictures of the actual participants into the courtroom. To me, this is a must see in Nuremberg. It is especially meaningful if you have a good guide to help explain everything

    Historical Significance
We stopped by because my brother in law has interests in these things. I wasn't sure what to expect as I wasn't that into it but it is quite a nice place for some historical information about the trials. We came by train and got tickets there without pre-booking. We opted for an audio guide. There are also elevators to get to the displays on the two floors above the entrance. The first stop was the courtroom and I was quite blown away by it. This was the room where the actual trials were held, although it was modified a bit since the trial. It was quite solemn. The carving above the door was very interesting and that was where they brought in the people undergoing the trials. That took one floor and the second floor was a museum for the trails. It was a bit hard going through with all the people also looking around, trying not to get in their way. There were a few missing numbers and it was a bit hard to figure out the ordering of the displays. It was very information-heavy. The displays themselves weren't always in English but the audio guide was helpful in that respect. It had a lot of information about the trials and the displays were laid out in a fairly logical order. They also had portable chairs for those who needed it, it is slightly hidden though, hanging close to the first display. It was quite an interesting stop, particularly with its historical significance.

    An excellent and informative museum
This is an excellent museum. There is a lot of information to digest but the exhibits are well laid out and so informative. This is such an important and eye opening subject. Probably not the best museum for younger children but for older ones it provides a lot of opportunities to talk about these pivotal events. Don't miss it.
