The Rum Museum immerses you in past, to discover the Guadelupian traditions, the workers in the past, and the know-how of the manufacturing of rum. From the sugar cane cut to the fabrication of agricol rum. Many objects, collections of cutlass, exhibition of the traditional jobs by time, which restore the soul of authentic Guadeloupe. The visit continues with the gallery of the big models of transport sailboats of time, redrawing the history of the first boats built until our days. Interesting short stop
The Musee du Rhum is a good stop for a break if you are driving around the island all day. Entrance fee, 5 euro, is inexpensive. Has a bathroom outside. Has a small parking lot. Film can be heard in english, just stop at main desk and tell them you are going into the film room. Lower level has rhum equipment displayed. Upstairs has a very nice butterfly and bug display room (room is kept cool, so good place to be if its very hot outside). When you finish, downstairs you get a small cup and can taste whatever rhums are available( there were 6 when we were there). Small bottles (20 cl, 4.5 euro)and full size are available to buy. Small ones Makes a good gift to carry home. Children get punch to drink. Ask at front if they have any homemade coconut candy (2.5 euro, cash only for this) Delicious. We should have bought all of the packs. Cant find them anywhere else.

So-so experience
This was the only distillery we stopped at during our vacation, and it was a bit disappointing. Full disclosure - I've visited several rum distilleries on other islands. The self-guided tour (English and French) was small, with a movie and a strange nature museum on the second floor. The tasting was a bit disjointed - there was a menu and we selected a few to try. We bought one bottle to bring home, but it was not our favorite rum we sampled during the week at restaurants. I can't speak for the other distilleries, but this one may be a "skip" during your vacation.
