Beautiful Pool

Go up D10 from Gourbeyre until you see the sign on the left and the parking places for Bassin Bleu. Walk down the road to the left and take the first right which starts as a narrow road and turns into a path. There is no sign here. Follow the trail until you come to a steep bank and a pool formed by a concrete dam. You can go further by using the rope to scale the bank. There are natural pools below the trail on the right. Go much further and there is a waterfall. There aren't many people so you can wear a swimsuit or not.

    Swimming in a blue lagoon
We had a long hike, but we wanted to see the Bassin Bleu. At first we had a pebbled road and them we found we were surrounded with tropical plants and trees. When we were close to the Bassin Bleu, we had to walk on the rocks. Water was going through. The place was really blue. Beautiful. It had a small waterfall. Worthwhile to see!

    Beautiful walk, relatively easy
We chose this hike because it was easier than many in the area and also promised to be beautiful. The turquoise pool is stunning. The water is cool and refreshing. To get there the road winds up the mountain side. There was a parking lot just before the road became sketchy. We parked there. From that point it was a 2k walk to the first pool. It was all easy until the last 20 meters when we had to walk over big slippery rocks. The pool is deep so we jumped in. We then found two ropes on the side of the rocks and used them to pull ourselves up to the next level. The second pool was also stunning. We didn’t swim but it looked inviting! If you just go to the first pool you will be very pleased. Our 10 year old had no problem scrambling up to view the second level. Good choice for those that don’t want a difficult long hike.
