Tranquil oasis in the heart of Bangkok
I had heard of Jim Thompson but didn’t know a lot about him. A read up a little when I got to Bangkok and thought it might be worth a visit. I’m so glad I did, it was extraordinary. My husband who wasn’t really all that bothered about it beforehand absolutely loved it and said it was one of the best things he saw in Bangkok. The house is so beautiful and serene, a real oasis in busy Bangkok. The gardens are small but pretty and the attached museum is informative. They have a lovely restaurant on site, although we only had a snack and a drink, where you can have a proper meal. The shop attached to the museum sold some nice things. I would suggest getting there early as it gets busy and it’s a small place. You can only go inside the house with a tour guide (tickets were inexpensive). We got there around 9.30 and the first tour was at 10.10. The tour takes around 40 minutes and by the time we had finished the groups were much larger and noisier than ours. Definitely recommend this beautiful house

Beautiful home
Beautiful garden. This is the second time, I visited it again as we were with friends, well actually family all grown up, some liked it some not but I wanted them to see it, to see the interior of the house, the architecture, the furniture, mostly teak. I was a bit disappointed as the last time, they had all this beautiful weaving silk in all colours to see, they also explained how it all worked but now it seems that they closed that down so as to make space for the shop, which is now much bigger and of course more expensive.
