Wonderful place for relax and shop

Great stop for breakfast, lunch, souvenir shops, WC, hotel stay on your route from Baden-Baden to Schwarzwald (Black Forest). The road to Lake Mummelsee from Baden-Baden took approx. 18.5 miles (30 km). The lake is beautiful and the surrounding forest is magnificent. You can bring your own food and have a picnic around the lake, there are tables here. Or you can buy everything you need to do this, including hot coffee, sausages, sandwiches, etc. Wow, what a lovely selection of German food, fresh bread, wines, sausages, pasta, cheese, ham and the best souvenir shops I've seen in Germany. Cuckoo clocks are also sold, for every taste and of good quality. The shops open daily. This place has two car parks - upper and low levels. We arrived at 10 o'clock in the morning and the upper level was almost full. At the moment when we left the lake at about 12 noon, both parking lots were full. So try to be there as early as you can. Wonderful place for relax and shop.

    Enjoyed it more than Titisee
One of our last stops about halfway of the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse (when you start in Baden-Baden) you pass the Mummelsee. You can't miss it because, it is the most touristic stop of the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse, and the parking and hotel/restaurant are directly to the road. There is enough parking space and already from the parking space you have an astonishing view over the valley of the Rhine and Vogezen. At the lake is a terrace from the restaurant with self service and you can also rent a pedal boat. Before enjoying the view on the lake from the terrace we walked past the hotel to the top of the mountain. There are signs which guide the way. Most people don't go further than the lake/ hotel but then you miss the best views. First part of the walk is without shade but from there you have a perfect view over the valley and Vogezen, way better than from the parking (where the most people stand). The next part is through the forest till the top. From there again a beautiful view but this time also over the lake. A extra benefit, much less crowded. After a while we walked back to the lake and had a drink on the terrace next to the lake, perfect spot to enjoy a beer after a walk in the heat.

a place to stop only if it's on your way
Nice spot on the road, I wouldn't go there if it's not on your way. The lake is small and nice, it takes about 15 minutes to go around it. It's a good spot to buy something to eat, some souvenirs and take a picture by the lake - but not more than that!
