An insight into rural life in the mountains before modern comforts

A barn/house built in 1696 which was almost completely unmodernised has been converted into a museum of rural life. A guide takes visitors around the building explaining in each room how it was used. Our guide only spoke German but there are cards in other languages that summarise the key points. The building has been filled with artefacts rural agriculture. There is a small cafe underneath which has a limited selection of bread and cheese/cold meat etc with beer and wine available too. You can also buy local honey.

Interesting place to learn about life was 100 y ago
The Schneiderhof is a real Black forest cottage that was in use until onle a few decades ago by it's last inhabitant. There are tours (hourly during summer weekends) where you will learn how life was then, with no electricity and so on. Good place to travel to with kids.
