If you accidentally step in it, you'll marry a Freiburger!
I believe that I can say that the Bächle is one of Freiburg's icons. These little water runnels are all over the old city and part of it's history. They say that if you accidentally step in it, you'll marry a Freiburger! In summer, when it is usually filled with water, people dip their feet to cool down. Some even sit around it while having drinks and cooling their feet. Kids love them too! There are even little boats for sale and kids play with it in the water.

INNOVATION IS NOT A MODERN CONCEPT!
Rivulets that cool the town in the heat of Summer, and in the Winter make you think of the relentless passing of time. Fascinating architectural phenomenon, almost fairy tale like in ambiance. I fell in and I married a Local so the legend must be true! Charming historical feature that encourages the mind to think of times gone by.
