    Small but worth the trip
I enjoyed knowing I wasn't in for a marathon; there's only a few rooms. The artifacts are plentiful and fascinating. Some might prefer more information about the pieces, but I enjoyed just looking them over. The gift shop was quite nice, it's where I bought my trinkets for friends back home. The staff were helpful but unobtrusive. I didn't try the cafe but the courtyard setting is quite pleasant.

A quiet display of the extraordinary objects found near Cuenca
This understated museum includes a courtyard, a cafe and an upstairs full of original objects from earliest cultures of Ecuador. With only short descriptions, the objects are beautiful, carefully displayed and representative of each culture. The museum shop is chock full of items that attempt to reflect the indigenous cultures, but it includes many manufactured items rather than hand made.
