Rhone River cruise with Viking

Viking is an excellent company that excels in customer satisfaction! We just returned from an 8 day cruise from Lyon to Avignon on the Heimdal that was wonderful! The tours of each city and optional tours were varied to satisfy history buffs, wine and foodies, and artists. The hard working staff did a fantastic job of cleaning. The service was quick and staff very friendly and accommodating. The trivia night was fun and the lecture on The Resistance was informative. The food was excellent and included French specialties. Highly recommend Viking River Cruises!!

    Cruising the Rhone
    The Rhone river itself is not as scenic as the Danube but the itinerary of the Cruise was fantastic which included stops and land excursions in various towns and vineyards along the way. The best is that you have a floating moving hotel so no checking in and out and on board all meals and drinks were inclusive, Maybe more expensive than a driving holiday but very relaxed. Great way to enjoy Provence

    Wonderful....eventually.
    We've just returned from 'Taste Sensations' on the Emerald Liberte for a week cruising on the Rhone, a trip delayed for two years for Covid. Public ship areas were spotless, comfortable and pleasant and the restaurants were wonderful: the food and service was faultless. Staff were kind and helpful, if a touch inexperienced. Gastronomic highlight was Michel Roux on board for a night and a demonstration, although we had expected a little of more him, given the advertising before. We appreciated the regular guided tours of medieval villages along the route and the chance for walking and cycling on dry land. Major complaint was the difficulty of communication with Emerald beforehand. Telephone connections took 35 minutes. Emails were not answered. Chaotic travel due to airline cancellation but not followed up by Emerald staff.
