Extensive
Many hours could be spent here although timing for each visitor is restricted to two-hour slots which need to be booked very early. Arrival on the day is likely to find an inability to enter. War Memorial provides a very extensive profiling of all the Australian Armed Services activities from WW 1 through to the present day. A considerable plethora of information is provided along with comprehensive audio-visual presentations. At the end of your visit, if willing to consume exorbitantly over-priced food and what has for me been the worst coffee ever tasted in Australia (over many years), pop into “Poppys” across the inappropriately named sculpture garden (that contains only two sculptures).

A must see
We pre booked a day before which I recommend. When we walked in we were asked if we wanted to join a free guided tour. This went for 80mins. My husband and I LOVED this. Our 2 kids (10 and 13) were over it by the end, which seems normal. Our volunteer guide was AMAZING. We learnt that he used to be a high school history teacher and we could see his natural passion come through during the tour. We HIGHLY recommend tagging onto one of these tours. It brought many of the displays to life. We were left in awe of many of the stories he told. I could easily have returned on a second visit because it wasn't possible to see it all in 1 visit and I also got a bit of information overload. Kids became disengaged and tired of all the walking but my husband and I loved it.
