Very Interesting
Here you can find pieces of the rich history of the North of the Country. There's a room dedicated to nature, other to the War of the Pacific, another for the mining and in the central area, a space dedicated to the rescue of the 33 miners of San Jose, including the actual capsule "Fenix II" that went down to get all of them.

Good exhibit of local Pre-Columbian Groups and Mining
This is a very good regional museum. Their collection of pottery and other items from the pre-Columbian groups which inhabited this area of the Atacama Desert is impressive. There is also a mummified puma from the Laguna Verde area. The capsule which was used in the rescue of the 33 miners in 2010 from an mine close to Copiapo is also on view. (We had seen it in 2013 when it was displayed in Valparaiso.) Well worth visiting this museum.

Not much to see here
This is a small museum. It is located in a former home that has been saved from the wrecking ball. There are really only four rooms open. The first displays furnishings from the time of the colonization of Chile. The second has some military memorabilia from the Pacific War and photos of early Copiapo. The third has some pottery and ornaments from the early inhabitants of the area. The fourth is a small collection of early mining artifacts. The good news is that it is only 600 pesos for adults and will easily fit your schedule if you have a short time to pass and are interested in the area.
