Big Dam Bridge, Arkansas, United States

Nice views of the river, especially near sunset

We had read that the views here were nice at sunset, so stopped by the evening of our first day in Little Rock. We first drove past the electrical plant to a small parking lot on the water. There were a lot of people fishing nearby, and we walked a little bit along the beach to look up at the dam. Then we drove back to the end of the dam where there is another free parking lot, and the pathway to walk up and over the bridge. We walked up to the high point of the bridge, where there are some signs indicating sights and other information and the bridge and wildlife. It was probably about half a mile up and then back - there is also a bike lane if you want to do it that way. We spent about 45 minutes enjoying the evening and took some fun photos of the bridge, the water, and the areas surrounding the river.

    Must See
Read someone's review and visited just before sunset - so pretty! This is a must see from the drive through beautiful neighborhood to easy parking, lots of walkers, bikers, families, it was a great visit. The bridge goes over the river but part are locks that barges go through to lower part of river. We returned the next day and watched a large load pushed by a "tugboat" and love it. Go here first, you might want to return for the exercise and the view!

Bridge for walking and/or biking with amazing views
The Big dam bridge is a long bridge that really is big if you plan to cross it by foot. I remember walking the golden gate up and down when I got to the its mid point, unfortunately I couldn't complete this one because it started pouring and one thing most wouldn't think of is what to do if it starts raining mid way on this bridge, well all you can do is enjoy the rain and hope your smartphone is waterproof as there is seriously nowhere to hide below :) Not having a shelter is not a complain but more of a warning because other than that the bridge is stunning, with good spacing and nicely designed to look through the river and the two sides of it. Definitely worth visiting if in Little Rock, might be a stretch to visit Little rock just to see the bridge unless you are an Architecture enthusiast or a runner/biker on bridges.
