In harmony with nature on a kayak

We loved this adventure. The backhaul service guide was very knowledgeable and even drove us a little longer to a place where we had a good chance of spotting bighorn sheep climbing the canyon walls. And lucky enough we got to see them. I recommend starting early in the morning since it is generally less windy than the afternoon and the first few hours on the river were magical!

    Amazing Experience
We are so happy we decided last minute to book our kayaking trip the day before. Tyler was our boat taxi driver & provided a lot of great information along our taxi up river. He was very welcoming and kind! We did the 10 mile kayak from up river of Horshoe Bend to Lee's Ferry Dock. It was an easy kayak, the water felt great, and we would definitely recommend Kayaking the Colorado River. It is an amazing experience to be in the canyons. It took us 4 hours, but we were very leisurely rowing enjoying the views and stopped a few times to swim along the beach areas. You are kayaking with the current and we loved the aspect of it being unguided. You were able to enjoy at your own pace. Don't worry, it's almost 99% impossible to get lost. The only business on the river downstream is Lee's, so it's easy to spot! We saw various wildlife, like ducks, fish (almost caught a trout by hand), and wild horses. This is 10X better than hiking to Horshoe Bend to overlook the canyon. We didn't hike while kayaking, but there are spots where you can get out and hike the canyon if you wish.

An amazing day on the water!
Our experience with Kayak the Colorado was superb! From answering our questions and booking our day, to the great customer service at the start and end of our adventure (we rented kayaks and utilized the backhaul service to spend the day paddling and hiking from the dam to Lee's Ferry), was amazing. We especially appreciated Joe, our boatman, for his wonderful guiding as we were taken up river. He pointed out all of the non-water adventures, making certain to include land marks and mileage points, spotted and allowed us to enjoy watching wild horses, big horn sheep, and other wildlife, and provided insights into the dam function and the water challenges. We will definitely spend more time on this stretch of the river and we will utilize Kayak the Colorado for this and any other adventure coordination they provide.
