The side from the road S-943 is more wild

There is one side that we arrive from road 199 to a little road called S-945 and then S-943. We drove to a sign called Sendero de las 5 cascadas. There was a house and we paid 3000 per person to a guy living there to walk in their property (I assume it is) to the Rio Turbio dry part. We also visited from the infrastructured another side where I found less attractive for trekking but good for bathing.

Great to see the magma and waterfalls
It is a small waterfall, but has a great view. The street takes 8km to get there, and has to go with a good car, it can get tricky. So try to get there not after rain. Great view

    Bridge closed until Jan-17
This will upgrade to a "4 star" with the completion of the bridge on the 8 km road to the site. As it is, the 4 km walk up the road from interim parking is a bit long for the payoff of the two waterfall sites. Interesting set of three waterfalls on bare volcanic rock are the prettiest, with a few pools that had tadpoles, and scampering three-inch long colorful lizards. There was a sign for a pool for swimming, but the water comes straight off glacier, so...brrrr! Wasps were everywhere, literally bumping into our faces at times. The trail continued up past the first set of three waterfalls, and we turned around after a quarter-mile, wondering if it actually was another access point to the east side of the volcano. Unfortunately, there is no trail signage or explanation to help, beyond a few signs with arrows to the waterfalls. A helpful in-holder who lives in an A-frame home by the parking area speaks decent English, and explained that (a) the bridge will be done in January or February 2017 and (b) he's lived there 3 years to work on the infrastructure, which will be improving over time, to eventually include paths to the rock outcroppings to the west. With that infrastructure improvement, and ease of access, I could see this becoming a fantastic short-hike / day-trip area in time.
