Quick visit

We were visiting the area and came out in between thunderstorms. There’s plenty of parking and a nice restroom. The beach itself is big and wide, very beautiful. I wished that we had been able to come out and swim, but the weather wasn’t cooperating during our trip. I would love to come back one day just to go to this beach.

    Beautiful wide beach great for walking
    We were staying at an inn close to Fernandina Beach which we walked one day. While it was pretty to look at, it was also difficult to walk for long distances due its relatively steep slope which tired our ankles. So, we were so glad to learn of the beach at Peters Point which was very wide and flat, at least when the tide was low. We liked it enough that we took another 6 mile walk there the following day. While I understand that owners of 4 wheeled vehicles would appreciate being able to park on some part of this beach, as an owner of such a vehicle, I would rather not see them there. While taking the boardwalk down to the beach, you can see tortoises roaming the sand dunes. At one point, I counted 8 that I could see at the same time. There are some beautiful mansion like homes nearby as well as the Ritz Carlton. We appreciated the restrooms available at the park especially after a long walk!

    Best Beach on Amelia Island
    We were on Amelia for 10 days, went to a different beach every day for 8 of those days, and I think Peters Point was our favorite. Not crowded (none of the beaches were in May), nice walkway to the sand, rinse-off showers plus public bathrooms. Yes vehicles can drive onto the beach, but (better than some others on the island), there is a specific place for vehicles that has swimmers and sunbathers away from the trucks.
