Stroll through History

When visiting Amelia Island, we always visit Bosque Bello. Walking through the headstones, reading the names/ dates/ history of those buried there provide a look back into history. All of the areas are interesting- the old part and the new. Make sure to stroll the hallowed grounds and step back in time! Make sure to take bug spray in humid months.

    I SEE DEAD PEOPLE
Great cemetery. Old graves. One has to remember. The Spanish settled in this area around 1500. Great old graves. Wish they could talk and tell the stories of the past.

    Part of Amelia Island History
Large old cemetery with historical gravestones going back to the 1800s and I am certain beyond. One main paved road and then dirt roads lead to the older parts of the cemetery. Some stones so old that you cannot read the information any longer. Realize that this dates back to the time when all graves were hand dug. We were very respectful because there were funerals going on as we visited.
