4.5Museum of the Western Prairie(36 reviews) - Literally a hidden gem Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
There were no signs at all for this museum and it was way back in a residential area. No one would know it was there without reading about it first. It cost $3 each for seniors. A very informative lady took us into the museum and quickly explained how it was laid out and also described how this region was also part of the Greer County that Texas claimed. It was a beautiful, large museum. It had a section on the local Indians. Another on the cattle drives which included a Goodnight chuck wagon. There were some marvelous sculptures by Charles Russell and Remington. They had an impressive display of clothing. Outside they had a sod house and an old rock home. There was also lots of farm machinery.See more..
