Lovely surroundings
We had lovely autumn weather to visit this beautiful location. There are great views to keep walkers and photographers happy. It was quite busy with school parties at the start of the walk from the car park to the lake but we soon found a tranquil spot. The toilet and other facilities are poor but that did not distract from a great visit.

One of the life time experience to see this frozen lake
Visited lake Issyk during our group tour to Almaty. It was not on original schedule for its frozen and.road also not motorable for.heavy snowing on mountains. Yet we decided to go first in keeps but later took our. mini bus. Natural geological office advised to take.care as roads were totally snow covered. Yet we reached there with our perfect n experienced driver. First time in life saw small shiny particles reflecting in snow it was an.eye treat. Also coloured snow.at places. The lake.is.surroumded by mountain all frozen just one small visible water hole at centre. We all walked to centre with knee deep snow. At centre the snow.layer was very thin so we were advised to keep distance. Again uphill walk in snow.to reach our bus was a very tiring job. Somehow managed . Overall a very pleasant beautiful scenery and.experience. one should not miss it.

Beautiful!!
We live in Almaty, and could have gone to Big Lake Almaty for the same "blue lake experience", but I enjoyed Esik so much more! A) you are allowed to go down to the lake and walk along it's shore (unlike Big Lake Almaty) and B) it was WAY less crowded. We had some incredible views on a beautiful blue-sky day!
