Just got back from an over-nighter camping excursion to Kapshagai Reservoir with my coworkers. We took a Mitsubishi camper van from Almaty to the northern shore beach of the lake. It was pretty treacherous off roading and we got stuck in the sand dunes near the beach! We had to get out and push the van through past the dunes. It was really hot since we went in June 2021. I got sunburned! We swam all day and grilled hot dogs, burgers, and some Indian people made us Masala Chai on the beach to drink! At night there were many Russians and Kazakhs car camping on the beach and making a lot of noise at night. It was hard to get to sleep with all the HARD BASS blasting all night long as well as our neighboring campers shouting in loud Russian all night. They were very drunk on vodka. We yelled at them to be quiet from our tents while we tried to get to sleep. They yelled back us curse words in Russian. Oh well. If you like Beach Parties that go all night long and grilling meat on the sandy beach with swimming in clear turquoise-ish water, then this place is for you!
