Perfect skiing

Really nice resort in Iran. Lifts are really old, when I show the pictures to my father, he remembered this brand as he was Young boy and skiing in Austria. Totally it was great experience specially with iran exploration team that organized our trip, guide Ashi, accommodation in dizin hotel and all the kindness.

One of the best ski resort in all over the world , with a lot of off-pist places for skiing , located near Tehran with two different access road from north and west of Tehran

    Advice for families
We went to Dizin for 3 days with 3 children, 3, 5 and 7. An on-arrival visa cost 50 euro each which is a rip-off imo, but this sounded cheap compared to others who were charged 900 dirhams ($250) each by travel agency. If you haven't already, first go to dizinpad.com for basic information, piste map etc and I will then elaborate on this. Prices assume that 10,000 rials = 1 USD Getting there: Dizin is on the opposite side of the mountain range to the north of Tehran. There are 2 roads to Dizin. One goes directly from Tehran to the top of Dizin which is about 50km. This is for day-trippers, but was closed indefinately while we where there. Something to do with a disagreement between Shemshak and Dizin on who has to maintain the road. The other road goes around the west side of the mountain, follows the valley on the opposite side, and is snow free all the way to Dizin, which is about 120km. From Tehran we used a private modern 5 seat car for $55. In comparison, a clapped out airport taxi wanted to charge $150 each way. It took about 2.5 hours in light traffic, but took others 4 hours in heavy traffic. It is busiest on Thurday evening and Friday when people come for the weekend (Friday). The driver also helped us hire equipment. A 10 seat mini-bus (toyota 'delica', hiace etc) costs $100. Ski/Snowboard hire is to the left of the road as you approach Dizin. Prices per day are as follows: Ski: $20 adult, $15 child Snowboard: $25 Goggles $5 Theses prices have been know to get as high as $75 per day. Once you have this sorted you can purchase lift passes. Adults and children are the same price (because pass consists of a chargable wristband which can be used by anyone). Refer to their website for prices. Childcare: Dizin Kid's Club is located to the left after passing through the ticket office (not at Chaman restaurant as expected). It costs $8 per hour and $8 for lunch. It is closed on Mondays. Ski School: Located on the near end of the Kid's club, but you will not make it very far before being approached by an instructor. Rates vary from $10 per hour to $25 per hour or $100 per day. If you need an instructor make sure that you negotiate the price before you begin and everyone is clear. My instructor was obviously very good, but not speaking english kind of negated this benefit. Snow Quality: I'm no expert but was amazed by the amount of snow all the way from the top to the base of the mountain. And I was assured by some Scandinavians that the snow was as good as anywhere. The yellow and red gondolas were the main areas being utilised while we were there. Lunch: The Chaman restaurant (green gondola) was not open. The chalet restaurant (red gondola) was open but I used the Snack bar restaurant which is further left of the chalet restaurant. The chalet restaurant is bigger with a more substantial menu, where as the snack bar is cosier with a more basic menu. Prices are cheap and quality acceptable. The coffee shop in Hotel 2 is run by the same guy, and has a similar menu. Out of interest, the snack bar restaurant was previously the shah's private ''snack bar'' on the slopes. They still sell caviar... not sure about the champagne. His palace can be seen to the right of dizin looking down the slope. That about covers it. Happy skiing.
