Legends Golf and Country Club, Alberta, Canada

3.5 (30 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Strathcona County Golf Courses

Great Public Course

A 27 hole layout with some challenging holes. I have been golfing here since it opened close to 30 years ago. Traditions and Old Hickory are the original 18 and have a very basic plan. These 18 are wide open and forgivable but fun and challenging. The new 9 - Champions - opened about a decade ago and is much more interesting. The course was landscaped and groomed in a way that makes every hole a challenge and beautiful to look at. If you book, encourage the pro shop to put you on Champions for one of your nines!

    Please communicate with your starters!!!
Not a smile to be seen between the pro shop staff and the starters. Lovely course. Unfortunately the tee times were booked every 3 minutes and even though we had booked by phone the previous night neither the starter on the “Traditions” or “Champions “ course seemed to have our tee time recorded, so tried to sandwich a walk-on between our foursome and the foursome in front of us as we started our tenth hole? Good value and we enjoyed our round nonetheless. PeopleSkills isn’t just a beer, it’s actually a thing...get some!

Great course but in poor shape for 2016
I've golfed Legends before and had fond memories. The course is either lacking in maintenance staff, or their members need a lesson in etiquette. Most of the greens were riddled with pitch marks and were in average shape. The practice facilities were also limited during my early morning round. The range didn't open when the pro shop did and the other practice areas weren't located conveniently together. But, with 27 holes combining to give you lots of options, the course itself has a lot to offer for those willing to overlook the greens and the practice facilities. There are picturesque holes that offer a variety of challenges. The club house is well stocked, green fees comparable to other nice courses, and once the Henday construction is completed, it's good night to be a little easier to get to. I'll be going back, partly because I have another voucher and partly because there are a lot of courses that are significantly more expensive.
