Spring Halibut and King Salmon

Scott has built his own fleet of boats and we spent a day on the Sea Wolf. Great way to see Yakutat bay and chase Halibut and Salmon. His rods and reels are top notch and match the quality of his boat and fishing skills. Great way to chase big Halibut on light tackle jig rods. Heck is the fishery well. Enjoy

    Alaskan Ocean Fishing Adventure
My family used Yakutat Charters for three consecutive days, two for successful fishing trips and one to tour the impressive Hubbard Glacier. Six members of my family spent the first charter day with Capitan Chris on the Sea Bear. The day started with boarding at 7AM from the Leonard's Landing dock. All of our party were novice fisher people. Chris was instructive, helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and fun. At the end of the day we had landed our limits of halibut, supplemented with a number ling cod, rock fish, and more. The largest fish landed was an 82 pound halibut (I won the prize!). Everyone had fun, caught fish, and were exhausted by the end of the eight hour day. Four of our party returned for a second day of fishing. By the end of an active day we had landed halibut, salmon, ling cod, rock fish, and an octopus (which was returned to the sea). In all, we shipped 293 pounds of frozen valuable fish to our home. On our third vacation day the entire family loaded on the Sea Bear with Capitan Chris and the Sea Wolf with Captain Scott to visit the Hubbard Glacier. We traveled about an hour and twenty minutes to get as near to the glacier as possible. The trip was breath taking. Captain Scott (and his dog Luke) knew a lot about glacial geology and was very informative. We collected a chunk of very dense, crystal clear, glacier ice and prepared a round of gin and tonic to celebrate a great trip and a successful fishing experience. I would highly recommend Scott and his Yakutat Charters to anyone even dreaming about an exciting and memorable Alaskan fishing adventure.

A Must Do - Yakutat Charters
This was a great experience. Yakutat Charters is a top quality operation. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. He is concerned about your group and ensures that have a good experience and give you the best chance to catch fish. His boats are top quality and well cared. The caption of our boat was outstanding. He was friendly and funny. He made you feel at home right away. We had a first time fisherman and he help to educate and never got frustrated. We caught our limit of halibut in 3 hours and the smallest fish was 77 lbs. we then caught our limit of Ling Cod and tried for king salmon. If you plan to visit Yakutat, Yakutat Charter is a must. I cannot say enough good things about Scott and his Captains.
