Visit to Monument
As part of our trip to Alaska, my group (2 couples) wanted to see this monument. It is located just west of the airport parking area (~1 block west). This is a monument to Wiley Post and Will Rogers – one of the items on our list of things to see while in Barrow. Although the snow around it was deep, we were able to get close enough to see it and take photos. The crash that resulted in their deaths took place just outside Barrow. At the time, Will Rogers was probably the most famous celebrity in the United Sates, and Wiley Post was an aviation pioneer that was working toward developing flight routes from the United States across Russia into Europe. Anyone with an interest in history and visiting Barrow should take the time to view this monument. After arrived at airport, you can simply walk down the street and spend a few moments reading the inscriptions.

A nice monument for two individuals who had an impact on society.
It's a nice monument and a place for a photo. There are several such places in the village. Keep in mind the roads are dirt and sometimes muddy in the warmer months. Dress accordingly for the weather, the air coming off the Artic Ocean as you can imagine is cold.

Photo Op
The monument and the Barrow signpost are side by side. If you have someone giving you a tour of the town this is an easy stop, or an easy walk from the airport.
