Worth the visit
Whittier is definitely worth the visit. The 2.5 mile tunnel to the town only opens every half hour and costs a $13 toll (credit cards accepted), so it's important to plan your visit carefully. You can walk around the whole town in about 2 hours. Very quiet and pretty. There are restaurants around the harbor and coffee shops where you can warm up. The people in the town are very friendly and open to questions about living in such a small town.

Great first time fishing
Had an amazing fishing trip with Alaskan 4 Star Charters this past Friday. I had never been on a charter before and they really helped me learn what I was doing and get some good fish. Caught Halibut, two different kinds of Rockfish, and some Cod. Fishing is usually my husbands thing. Even if there was some friendly teasing one time when I kept thinking the fish got away and reeled and let it out about 5 times before they came over laughing and told me I did indeed have a fish on the line. Definitely a very enjoyable and memorable experience. I would highly recommend them if you are wanting to do a charter. I am hoping to go back and take my little kids too. They have electric reels and I am sure even my 2 year old would have fun being able to actually catch fish. Saw puffins, Dall's Porpoise, and sea otters as well. 5 stars

Fun place to visit.
Knowing that 90% of the towns people live in one building is what is so interesting about Whittier. There are some tremendous views as you travel up the mountain. The harbor is really cool to see, all the fishing boats going our all day and night.
