Fantastic morning on the boat with Josh

Josh was recommended by our air bnb host to go do a wildlife/sightseeing tour. He went out of his way to take us out at the last minute as we were only in town for one day. He was a great knowledgeable guide and patient with me as I struggled with the binoculars. Had a fantastic morning out on the boat with him. And I would say I highly recommend him over the larger boats as he can get in to tighter spaces and see more.

Use Valdez Water Taxi and Build Your Own Adventure
Josh is a dependable captain. He made sure everyone is briefed and understands safety, comfort and Coast Guard regulations. He is knowledgeable about the Sound and its marine life. Josh is an excellent source for information on the habits and behaviors of local birds. He is quick to adapt the itinerary to changing tides and weather. We’ve gone with him twice and can’t wait to go again.

One of the most memorable boating experiences of a lifetime!
We showed up unexpectedly in Valdex with a beautiful day in front of us. It was the first week of May, and the city was just starting to open up from Winter. We called around looking for a charter boat trip on the water. Everyone that we called said that they weren't running yet, but they said we should reach out to Captain Josh at Valdez Water Taxi and Charters. Wow! We had the best day. The price was right, and we were underway right on time. Upon meeting and boarding his boat, you could tell that Josh was a professional. After a quick tour of the boat, a thorough safety briefing, and the guidelines given on expectations, we were off. This former high-school shop teacher has a natural love for wildlife, and he knew where it was. Throughout the day, he'd say things like, "The other day, there was a pair of Oyster Catchers on the other side of those rocks. Let's go see if they're still there." Then he'd chop the power and we'd drive around this rocky island, and there would be the birds that he mentioned. His easy manner described and shared facts and stories about everything that we saw. If you need to get somewhere, or want to see something on the water in Valdez, you simply cannot go wrong with this guy. We plan to come back to this area again. We want to rent one of the public cabins in the area and spend some time there. You have to use a water taxi to get to them. And, we will definitely plan on using Capt. Josh to get us there. PS: The morning after our trip, I got a text from Capt. Josh to tell me that he had spotted a couple of black bears up on a hillside near where we were staying. I stepped outside and there they were.
