Amazing Lake Clark Experience!

We used Tulchina Adventures for kayak rental and transport out to Thompsons Cabin. It was more expensive than I might have initially guessed, but definitely worth every penny. Beth is extremely competent and reliable with her commitments. When our plans were delayed due to weather, she was able to transport us out to the cabin a day late. We appreciated her knowledge of the area and made sure to follow her advice when kayaking out on the lake. It does take her a bit longer to respond due to the fact that she's often out transporting people across the lake. While we didn't stay on her property, we did walk over to the office and could appreciate its beauty. Bonus points for two really great dogs!

Great option if you prefer camping to staying at the lodge.
Had a nice 3-day stay. Beth and Warren were very kind and accommodating. Campsite was clean and well equipped with lots of potable water, and TP and hand sanitizer in the latrine. Also, loved their dogs! I would recommend renting their motarized boat for a spin around the lake. The scenery is gorgeous! Eileen G.

Great Cabin for a stay - Host a bit grumpy
This is beautiful remote location on Lake Clark near the two airstrips. The cabin itself has been lovingly restored and is a nice place to unwind. You have to bring sufficient food and beverages for your stay as there are no grocery stores available. The cabin has hot water and decent shower facilities, cooking equipment and utensils. Overall a good value for the money. There is a food food truck with decent burgers and milkshakes about a one mile walk from the cabin. The truck has limited hours and closed on Sunday. The Tanalian Falls And Mountain trailheads are about five minute’s walk past the food truck on the East end of the gravel runway. The Nat Park Visitor center is halfway down the runway. Overall, there is a lot of walking to be done from the cabin to reach activities away from the cabin. The host does offer kayak rentals, boat tours and water taxi services for fee that I consider rather high but you are in the bush. The host Beth responds to emails and phone calls in a reasonable amount of time. She does seem rather put out to to explain things in detail. meeting her on our arrival at Port Alsworth, I got they impression that we were interrupting her life and the sooner us lower 48 tourist types were gone the better. She clearly was not happy when we changed our departure to the first flight of the day at 0700. We weren’t happy to be on eggshells around her in the brief time periods of transport between the Cabin and airport. Maybe she was just having a bad day or two while we were in town. Would I come back? Not soon.
