Triple Lakes Trail, Alaska, United States

4.5 (35 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #14 in Denali National Park and Preserve Hiking Trails

Long hike in Denali

Great if your looking for a longer trail in Denali. We started from the trailhead and walked all the way to the Ranger's station and back for a total of about 19 miles. You get to see three lakes and great views once you ascend the mountain. I would rate it as hard just because of the distance required to complete the trail there and back plus some steep climbs up the mountain. The views are well worth it. We didn't see much wildlife along the trail. The weather was great to do it in August.

    What a treasure!
This is a well marked 9 mile (one way trail). Make sure you have a pack with water and atomic rated mosquito repellent. Seriously, I have never had an issue with mosquitoes but Alaskan mosquitoes wanted a piece of me. They managed to get refills right through long sleeved shirts and pants. I took out a few of those suckers but they were the clear winners. The hike is gorgeous and we had the place to ourselves (probably due to the pervasive winged blood suckers). I’m guessing we will survive without having contracted Dengue or Encephalitis. Trail leaves from the Visitor Center and winds up in Denali Park Village. There is a shuttle depending on your timing to get you back over to the visitor center.

    Nice hike with lovely lakes
We did this hike when we were visiting Denali although because we had another commitment, did not go all the way to the Visitor Center. It was still a lovely hike with some changes in elevation, but not really too strenuous. I would check it out if you have time. We started from the Denali Park Village end and you do have to look for the start of the trail as there is currently construction in the area.
