Tonsina Creek Trail, Alaska, United States
4.5 (33 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #12 in Seward Hiking Trails
Breathtaking
This place is breathtaking. We went in the early morning and felt we were the only humans around. Bald eagles flew overhead. Our boys skipped rocks and broke their own record due to the smoothness and shallowness of the water. This was definitely my favorite location in the Seward area. The trail was moderate. Not too challenging, and definitely worth the time.

Pleasant morning hike
We went first thing in the morning, and were there with the bald eagles and other birds, beautiful temperate rainforest and the river. The hike starts at sea level, goes up a hill,l and then down to the coast & the bridge where there were tons of salmon. A tad strenuous but well worth it!

Somewhat strenuous hike but worth it
Even on an overcast day this trail was a pleasure to hike. Parts can be steep but walking thru a creek and having a bridge added diversity. Finally the reward was arriving to the waters of Resurrection Bay. There wasn’t any wildlife that we saw while hiking but no shortage of people life on the trail. Actually lots of trails we’ve been on in Alaska have been busy with other hikers so no exception here.
