4.5 (41 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Boat Tours

The Most Beautiful Place on Earth

Glacier Bay is ever changing and marvelous. We have visited three times and the Bay is different each time. The water is icy clear with chunks of ice floating upon the surface. Most cruise ships spend at least six hours drifting through the quiet Bay. This last time we saw at least six bears, sea lions, whales, and multiple glaciers calving. The Park Rangers are very knowledgeable and patiently point out interesting sights. Alaskan Cruises are very nice, but this is the crowning glory of Alaska.

    A worth while day trip
This is the day trip boat that goes from Glacier Bay Lodge in Bartlett Cove. It's a fantastic trip on a good sized boat. The trip to the glaciers is a couple of hours, but filled with wildlife and fantastic scenery and when you arrive at the Carving Glacier, they just take your breathe away. A great day out.

Great way to see glacier bay without a cruise ship!
I booked this 8 hour trip along with lodging at glacier bay lodge through their website. This tour is $225 but worth every penny. It was a clear day so we were able to see all kinds of wildlife including bears, humpbacks, orcas, stellar sea lions, goats, otters, puffins and more! This is run by Allen Marine Tours for the park. I went on a trip with them in Juneau and they are great! The captain was exceptionally great really serving as the main spotter of the wildlife. You leave at 7:15 at the dock at glacier bay. If you stay at the lodge, it is a quick 5 min walk from the lodge. On the boat that seats 100, you get to use binoculars and have a great map so you know where you are sling the way. We had about 60 on our boat. 100 would be tight. The trip takes you by various glaciers. You spend 30 minutes in from of the Majorie glacier. A park ranger narrates the tour and you can hear inside and outside which is nice. The only down side of this tour was that when you saw something good everyone rushed outside and it was difficult to see at times. Other than these times, the boat is comfortable. All and all, a great time. Bring warm clothes!! Much nicer than viewing on a cruise ship. Tip: you can take cruise and still catch the Alaska Air 5:57 back to Juneau if you only want to stay one night in glacier bay. Really a great adventure!!!!
