Amazing flight and doggos
Best excursion from the cruise ship. Helicopter and doggos combined. Two of my favorite things in life. We took off after a 15 min bus ride with two other helicopters in formation and flew low level over a glacier and snow covered mountains before heading to the sled dog camp. Rachel was a very smooth pilot and guided us through the area as we flew. At the camp we met Matt Hall, Yukon Quest Champion and top 10 Iditarod finisher, and were lucky enough to have him as our Musher guide. We got to experience how strong these dogs are while pulling the sled with only half the amount of dogs used for the Iditarod or Yukon race. Plus we get to stop and play with them before heading back around the track and meeting the puppies! Then you get to jump back on the helicopter for another heli ride back to base. I would do this again and again. Worth the money. I did multiple dog sled excursions because I love dogs, but this one took the cake! We booked through NCL.

Best tour in Alaska hands down!
Took this tour from Celebrity Cruises. Matt and his dogs were awesome. Such a neat thing to experience. We could not have asked for more perfect weather and the whole experience from start to finish was the highlight of my trip. Next time were in Alaska on a cruise this will be must do again! Anyone looking for a beautiful helicopter ride along with the dogsled adventure should not even think twice about booking this tour!

Unforgettable experience!
Smokin Ace Kennels is AMAZING! Located approximately 30 minutes outside of Fairbanks, Smokin Ace Kennels was the highlight of our trip! Matt and Amanda are both very friendly and truly care about their dogs! They shared the story of Maddie, their adorable welcoming committee (aka super sweet lap dog) and how she was intended to be a sled dog; however, she wasn't happy pulling a sled, so they listened to her and she became their lovable furbaby instead! It was a privilege learning from Matt (who just won the 2017 Yukon Quest... an amazingly awesome detail!) and Amanda on life as a musher and the process of picking which dogs make their racing team. My friend and I booked dog mushing school- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! All the dogs bark with excitement when they see it's time to run! We played with the dogs a bit, learned how to harness the dogs, and went on a sled ride with Matt (my friend and I sat in the sled) as he explained a few mushing techniques to us. Then, the AWESOME part: we hooked up our own team of dogs to our sled (my friend and I each had our own sled) and got to experience what it was like to be a musher! Seeing the snow-covered beauty of Alaska with only the sounds of the dogs and the sled rails on the snow... absolutely magical! Oh, and I loved my lead dog Rohn!!! Such a sweet and beautiful dog! :) It's been 3 weeks and I'm still raving about our experience! A few friends have added Alaska to their travel lists now and guess who I'm recommending?! I'd recommend Smokin Ace Kennels in a heartbeat! Book them- you won't regret it!
