Very good place to get a good view of Kachemak Bay and mountains on the other side of the bay. Room to pull car over.

rough road but worth it
If you want the "postcard shot" of Homer and the Homer Spit, this is where you get it. It's beautiful up there, the town, the Spit, the bay and the mountains all laid out before you. On a clear day you can see Augustine Island and Cape Douglas, both active volcanoes. It should be noted that as of June 2021 the road, both coming up the hill and right by the overlook, is in really terrible shape. We had two rough winters in a row and it just broke these roads. There's a ton of potholes, people may be in the wrong lane trying to avoid them, and right by the overlook it was so bad they actually just ripped out like fifty feet of road and there's a bit of a drop that can be jarring when you drive over it. Still worth it for the view, in particular if it's your first time in Homer.
