Fun photo op
Ok….I love statues that we can have fun with. The population movement towards the gold fields of Alaska is quite serious. Most of the miners either lost everything or everything and their lives. Fun for pics, but really should be viewed for more serious content

Historical Statue not to be missed
The Skagway Centennial Statue is a short walk from the cruise ship docks. The sculpture represents a typical scene at the start of the gold rush time in 1897 in Skagway - The gold rush stampeder being led by a native guide. A plaque at the base provides quite a bit of historical information about the gold rush. The quadrangle where the statue is located also serves as the start of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. The huge snow plow which served the White Pass Rail is nearby.

Skagway Centenial Statue
This statue is located in the middle of a park near the White Pass train depot. This sculpture represents a typical scene at the start of the gold rush time in August 1897. It shows a Tlingit packer leading the way for the eager stampeder to the gold fields. The statue is a pleasant 10 minute walk from the cruise ship terminal. Happy Travelling!
