rock creek trail challenge

My wife and I are in our late 50's and in fairly good shape, but not athletes. We hiked the rock creek trail without any major issues even though we both had colds.

    Good Denali NP Trail
This trail is one of the best in the entrance area of Denali NP. It's moderate as far as trail grading goes. I think the NP titles it "moderately strenuous", but I don't think it earns the strenuous notation. Either way, it's a good hike. My children (4 & 6) had no trouble at all with this trail. My suggestion is to ride the bus and visit the sled dog demonstration/kennel area and then hike the Rock Creek trail back to the visitor center. It's better than the Roadside trail because of views and getting away from the road. However, you could make a loop by hiking the Roadside trail to the dog sled area and then hiking the Rock Creek trail back. Rock Creek trail from the visitor center, has a steady elevation increase and then a quick drop down at the end. From my suggested start at the dog sled area, it's a quick increase in elevation and then a slow decrease (easy and relaxing) all the way to the visitor center. The trail is well marked and easy to follow.

    Moderate hike with great views.
This hike from visitors center to sled dog kennels takes about 2 hours and is moderate with almost all uphills. There are few spots to sit and view beautiful vista. Well maintained crushed gravel path.
