Mt Dewey Trail, Alaska, United States

4.5 (36 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Wrangell Hiking Trails

A beautiful 1.5 mile walk to the top of the mountain

This was a beautiful walk to the top of Mount Dewey. This was a trek that the naturalist John Muir did many many years ago. You walk on wood steps/ boardwalk of varying levels. This is a rainforest but you won’t get muddy on the hike up. Prepare to take a few rest stops as you climb up the switchbacks. Beautiful forest and view from the top.

Superb views for a short climb
Wow! Well worth the short climb up the boardwalk through the woods, cos when you get to the top there is a spectacular view, absolutely sublime, highly recommended. Only takes about 10 minutes up if you are reasonably fit. Loved it!

Climb Mt Dewey for a great view of Wrangell Harbor
The Mt. Dewey Trail rises 300 feet about the town and is about a half mile long. The path has been made very doable for most by creating a wooden boardwalk there. Once at the top, you look out over the Wrangell harbor. Very picturesque.
