We decided on Matanuska Brewpub as we were told the food was excellent. We checked out the website and it seemed like a neat place. We didn’t realize it would be so...rustic? There are only signs to the Tasting room so we took a chance and it seemed we were in the right place. It was a bit busy and we didn’t realize that we walked in and put our backs right up against the rest room. Poor guy in there must have thought he’d gotten locked in. We were finally greeted and told it was all self seating. When the waitress realized we had never been there, she did her best to orient us and assist. My beer palate isn’t anything to speak of...my Arctic Warrior was...a beer. My husband who is a bit more beer oriented said his IPA was fine. My teenager did love her root beer. The poke nachos were much better than expected. The teen loved her tacos. Hubby and I had burgers that we both enjoyed. Mine had avocado on it and it was one of the best tasting avocado bites I’ve had in Alaska. The house chips left a bit to be desired. They were mostly over cooked with a bit of an almost burnt bitter taste. Our waitress was fantastic. We might stop in again if we’re in the area.

Beer tasting with a side of fries
We stopped at the brewery while we we were waiting for our Airbnb to be ready and we totally enjoyed our experience. Great tasting beers, attentive staff, the owner introduced himself and offered me a job (lol, he thought I was a new employee!) and we had some tasty fries with malt vinegar. AND they have a beer vending machine. It was a great time.
