Lower Dewey Lake Hiking Trail, Alaska, United States

4.5 (171 reviews) Spent Ranking #9 in Skagway Hiking Trails

Not for the Faint of Heart

Short but straight up the hill at times, I had to pause for a minute or two to catch my breath and I think I"m in pretty good shape for a 55 y/o. Provides scenic views of Skagway and the Cruise Ships, but mostly a walk in the woods, until you get to the glistening Lower Dewy lake. Beautiful. Had no intentions (or time) to keep going to Upper Dewey lake, but I can only imagine the views from there must have been real good and worth the struggle to climb. Not a hike for young kids, unless you don't mind piggy backing them at times.

Uphill trail with easy access to down town
Steep trail that was marked moderate on all trails. Not a trail for those not in reasonably good shape. There were two kayaks and a SUP on the lake that were provided by town of Skagway. Good hike, at least it was downhill all the way back!
