Little Coal Creek Trail, Alaska, United States

3.0 (2 reviews) Spent Ranking #4 in Trapper Creek Hiking Trails

One of Southcentral Alaska's Best Hikes

This is a great hike. It winds through the woods and across some streams, then climbs via some well designed switchbacks coming out to the best Denali view around. You get to several additional view points then work your way back and up into the alpine. You can turn around at any point and feel that you had a great hike! Take insect repellant and sun screen.

    Wet and muddy!
Don't do this trail on a wet day. This would be a fine trail but, when as wet as it was the day we were there, it was miserable at best and a bit dangerous at best, The trail was being severely damaged by people trying to skirt around muddy spots. There were lots of these and the mud was ankle deep. Views from top of ridge were nice even with the low cloud ceiling.
