    Lovely Lake Experience
Easily accessible from Anchorage if you have a car. Beautiful lake and scenery. You can rent kayaks, canoe, etc., during the summer season. Hiking trails around the lake. Chance to run into moose or bear. The water level seemed low while we were there, but it does provide gorgeous views. Very peaceful.

    Lake Eklutna, Alaska
Never have been to the Alaska territory, I added a play-day to my business trip to Anchorage and planned to visit a remote area where I could ride a bike for the day ... I chose Lake Eklutna. Only about 30+ miles northeast of Anchorage, Lake Eklutna is goregeous. I rented a bike at the campground and rode the LakeSide trail from one of the lake to the other and back (some 22 miles total). At the far end of the lake, you'll reach a trail that can take you to a glacier, but beware the changing weather conditions near the glacier. The trail is very scenic, but being a city-slicker, I found myself haunted with being attacked by a moose or grizzly-bear...which never happened, of course. In fact, the only animals I saw were a couple of squirrels and a hawk. The trail is smooth for a biker, but gets bumpy the closer you get to the glacier (well groomed, mind you, but just bumpy from the rocks in the trail). This was an excellent adventure and one that I recommend to everyone! I spent the previous night at a nearby commercial cabin rental...don't make this mistake. Either rent a camp site with a camper/RV or tent. Forget the nearby cabins. Also, if you get a chance, rent a bike and/or kayak from the campground rental...it'll add to your experience.
