Junior Ranger Activity Center, Alaska, United States
4.5 (14 reviews) Spent Ranking #26 in Skagway Children's Museums
Great Free Attraction for Children
We visited this small, single room national parks attraction with a 4 year old who could have happily spent half a day here. There is a sand box with artifacts to find by sifting sand along with information about gold panning, animal pelts and a skull along with information about trappers, displays of provisions for the gold rush along with toys of the time period. Interesting photos and commentary at several stations on iPads kept the adults and teens interested. Perfect spot for children who are not interested in all of the jewelry, art and souvenir shops along the street.

Like that the Junior Ranger Center is set apart
Cute and small. Not your typical junior ranger activity of filling out a workbook. Instead you read off a series of ipads about terms like entrepreneurship, bravery...etc. and how they relate to the gold rush. There's a dedicated and fun ranger there that's ready to ask you questions about the key terms at each station and then he swears you in.
