An Irreversible and unimpeachable brilliantly run company. Setting breathtaking standards that peers only dream about.
It is, as it was. What once was described as a blue chip company has somehow again raised its standards to new unprecedented heights within the industry.Time and time again through out the year i have reverted myself again to remember the level of commitment and trust embodied within this business. Trust is the key component here and its not a subject or a word that i use frequently especially when describing a business.I do however use it here and it is both intentional and a deliberate act. This is a superlative company run seamlessly by Darren and his lovely wife. The vehicles are superb and in superb condition. At no time did i feel like i was renting a vehicle from HAR. It at all times felt like i was in partnership with the company. That meant a lot to me and my 9 year old son coming all the way from Ireland. It was no surprise to us that throughout the island Darren has a near semi-god status within the community. Superb company providing flawless service in the last frontier. It was worth the journey alone just to meet the both of them.

Wonderful rental vehicle service to provide for your transportation needs on Prince of Wales Island :)
Having traveled to Alaska's largest island for more than 14 years, I've sampled nearly all of the different options that are available for ground transportation on PWI... For my 2016 visit, we used the Hollis Adventure Rentals, and found that this company to be the best that I've experienced so far :) We were met at the Hollis float plane dock by the very friendly & helpful staff (Arthur), and our Toyota Tundra was super clean and in great operating condition (she also had good tires, which is essential for traveling on the Island's many gravel roads = sharp rocks & frequent punctures). The owner (Darren) and Arthur both were excellent re communications before, during, and after our visit too. FYI for PWI visitors: Hollis Adventure Rentals have made arrangements with 2 Ketchikan-based air taxi services (Taquan Air and Pacific Air) to offer transportation to and from the Island (with discounts, depending on the time of your flights), if your trip is combined with a vehicle rental from HAR. Pros of this: you take your gear straight to the air taxi check-in counter, and you + baggage are transported to the nearby floatplane dock. Your pilot then flies you to the dock in Hollis, where your vehicle awaits... This process is much superior to taking the PWI Ferry from KTN-Hollis-KTN, as doing this other option requires hand-hauling all your luggage from the main terminal down to the airport ferry (plus having to buy r/t tickets for these legs), then disembarking and having to carry all of your stuff about 1/4 mile to the PWI Ferry terminal (not pleasant when its raining hard). One can also rent a car at the KTN Airport and use this conveyance to go across the channel into town, then drive to the PWI Ferry terminal & transport your rig to the Island -- but you will incur signinant costs to ride on both of these ferries... Also, you will arrive in Hollis after 6pm, and need to be back there at 6:30am for the return ferry ride back to KTN (which results in losing two days of your visit). The air taxi vs PWI Ferry costs will be higher, so its a choice between more time on the Island or less $... Darren/Arthur also can have their vehicle waiting for you at the Hollis Ferry Terminal, if you choose water and not air transportation to reach the island. All things considered, I will be using Hollis Adventure Rentals for all of my future trips to Prince of Wales Island :)
