Excellent Service

We kayaked Glacier Bay’s West Arm on a 7 day/6 night self-guided trip the first week of June 2021. The folks at Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks, Kara in the office and Leah in Gustavus, are great to work with. They run an efficient and professional operation and are concerned about the safety of their clients. Aside from renting us the kayaks they booked our flights in and out of Gustavus from Juneau, our room at the Glacier Bay Lodge and the day boat transport to and from the pickup point. They also rent rubber rain gear and boots – essential for keeping dry. The kayaks were in great shape and everything worked as it should. I’m not sure why but I find Leah’s tandem kayaks the most comfortable for my back I’ve ever used. Every other kayak I’ve tried makes my back ache soon into the trip. The kayak was also the most stable feeling kayaking I’ve been in and it easily held all our gear, including 3 bear containers.

    At peace in Bartlett Cove
On May 30, 2022, my wife and I did a full day guided kayak tour of Bartlett Cove run by Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks. We booked a full day tour (9:00 - 3:00) instead of a half day tour based on a Tripadviser review and are glad we did (A half day tour would have been too short). We met our guide Rachel along with fellow paddlers Kate and Toni from Anchorage at the Glacier Bay Lodge at 8:45. We ended up paddling from the lodge north across Bartlett Cove and then west to the mouth of the cove. Wildlife seen during the day included an eagle, some birds, a few sea otters that disappeared under water when we tried to take photos and a porpoise off in the distance. To me, the best thing about kayaking in Bartlett Cove was the serenity. It was a gorgeous, sunny day with temperatures in the high 60s. Occasionally we would stop paddling and just soak in the quiet of this beautiful expanse of water. Snow capped mountains on all sides. An eagle soaring above the water and perching in a tree. Sitting in a kayak in a cove where the water was smooth as glass and all you could hear were calls of the nearby birds, I couldn't pick a better spot to end a two week vacation to Alaska's Inside Passage. Thank you Rachel and Glacier Bay Sea Kayaks. Oh, and the tour included lunch.

    Superb service and support
We used GBSK as our rental outfitters for a 3-person 5-day sea kayak trip starting at Ptarmigan Creek and ending at Scidmore Bay. The experience was superb, and the advice they gave us was always spot on. This was our group’s first trip like this in Glacier Bay and the GBSK resources were critical to our success. They also made all of our reservations with the lodge p, the water taxi, and with the seaplane service we used. We highly recommend them for anyone headed to the area and taking a sea kayaking adventure.
