Worth the bus ride

We took the 6 AM shuttle and it was well worth getting up! Some animals we saw was a bear, caribou, moose, and snowshoe hares. Our bus driver Matt was amazing. He told us some many interesting facts and it’s lovely to see people so passionate about what they do. The rangers at the visitor center where helpful and they provided an easy, moderate, and hard hikes (we did all three in a few hours), and the four hour drive was picturesque. I would definitely recommend coming early and spending a few hours there. You can also go off grid and hike at your own convenience. Just wanted to also let people know that if you do buy tickets and have a later tour, BUY THEM IN ADVANCE. The park rangers make you go to the visitor center and print them out there, so make sure to get their early. Hope this helps, we had a wonderful time!

    long, but scenic
Went on the 6 a.m. green shuttle bus to Eielson. Long trip but very beautiful views and some wildlife sitings. We saw a couple of moose, two grizzly bears in the far distance and a herd of Caribou. The best part of our trip was our bus driver Darlene. She was wonderful. She had so much knowledge about the park. She stopped and pointed out wildlife and flowers along the way. We made several stops along the way and ate our lunch at the end. We returned around 2 p. m. in the afternoon. All in all a good day. I wouldn't take small children on this as it would be a very long time for them to sit still and they would probably get restless and bored. Thanks Darlene for a great day!

Clean bathrooms, well staffed with Rangers, Nice place to refill water and rest.
One of two places to refill water. Spot to rest, refresh. Clean restrooms. Staffed by several Rangers to answer questions and help when we were there. Informative posters and plenty of benches to rest. Great views. Nice place to rest and wait for a bus to take you out of the park. (Due to COVID inside was not open except for bathrooms, lockers, and water refill station. )
