Really cool museum

This is a really cool museum! The history of Dolly and her life is really fun to learn about. After hearing Dolly's story from an employee, you can do a self guided tour through her house. "Only at Dolly's can you get hammered and nailed for $3."

    Cash Transaction Only
Somehow it seems complete appropriate that this little place is only open when ships are in town and that admission is by cash transaction only - it is after all the former home of a Madam. If you are looking for a brothel museum, you might be disappointed - this is not where the brothel was. It is actually the home of Dolly who ran the brothel. She made a commanding position for herself, a master business woman with a rich life on the Alaskan shipping lanes. When she passed in the early 20th century, her home was turned over as a museum. What survived were all of the mundane artifacts of her life and her professions - and it's a completely delightful way to see into a life well lived. Dolly's is an exuberant life to relive for a quick 20 minute tour. Enjoy!

Too bad it rains all day as this could have been more interesting.
The day that we went was from a cruise ship and it rained all day. I wish it didn't as it seemed like it might be a decent town to explore. We did catch the show with the lumberjacks which was fun to watch. We did go to a restaurant although I do forget the name but the prices for food for lunch were ridiculous. I live in a major Metropolitan City and the prices were almost double here. Make sure you bring your AMEX card LOL. Finally do check out Dune jewelry as they offer some wonderful and beautiful pieces of jewelry made with sand.
