Denali Visitor Transportation System, Alaska, United States

4.5 (75 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Denali National Park and Preserve Taxis & Shuttles

Beautiful Fall Colors on the Tundra

The Transit is a shuttle bus system, NOT an interpretive tour. Visitors use the Transit to access park facilities and campgrounds, to reach backcountry destinations for hiking, to transport bicycles, and to simply sit back and enjoy Denali’s wildlife and scenery. Having buses transport visitors into Denali National Park & Preserve helps to protect the natural resources and reduce traffic congestion. By using the park's bus system, visitors actively support the National Park Service’s mission of preserving and protecting park resources for future generations.

Excellent trip with Darlene on the Denali National Park Road
We had a wonderful trip viewing bears, caribou, moose, birds and incredible scenery. What a wonderful example of the wonders of God's creation. We enjoyed description by our park bus driver, Darlene. Remember that you must enclose bear spray in your backpacks while on the bus. Masks were not required. The bus stopped regularly so that riders could see animals up close. Our group is dedicating a special song to our driver: "Lady," by Kenny Rogers.

A great way to spend a day.
The park buses aren't the most comfortable, but it's definitely a must do in the park. You just see so much more than the Savage River area which is all you can drive to in your own vehicle without a special pass. The bus drivers are great at spotting and getting you good views of the animals you see along the way. We were lucky we missed the landslide that closed the road by a couple days.
