Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost (CGC), a gold mining adventure destination, includes an RV park/campground, a historic gold dredge, a restaurant and a gift store. CGC is located in the center of the small, wilderness community of Chicken Alaska. The campground has 70 sites (20 or 30 amp) with picnic tables and fire rings, a water and dump station and clean showers. There are cabins with various combinations of single to king beds. The restaurant, serves home made entries, wood-fired pizza, beer and wine, and includes an espresso bar. The gift store and gallery showcases Alaska and Yukon native art & crafts. Daily tours of the Pedro dredge are available. CGC offers recreational gold mining (gold panning, high-banking and dredging), including equipment rentals, free instruction. and transportation to the claims. There is also gold panning with free lessons offered in the campground. WiFi and firewood is included with camping. There is easy hiking access to the nearby Fortymile River.

the goldbug bit me....now i have goldfever
Four of us went to the Chicken Gold Camp for about two weeks looking for fun and adventure. I had spent quite some time looking at their website and hoping that maybe half of what they said was true. Imagine my surprise to find that virtually everything they said was true! Think of the place as civilized wilderness. The entire place was very well maintained. The outhouses were cleaned often and were better than many toilets in gas stations or other public places.. The grounds were immaculate. Our lodgings were clean, snug, and very comfortable. The recreational gold mining was excellent! There truly is gold on Myers fork. However, one must put in the time and effort to find it. Do not expect to get rich doing it, but enjoy the experience. We got some gold every day we were there (some days were better than others). We saw all kinds of different animals, and literally had the grey jays eating out of our hands. The air is fresh and the exercise will help get you in shape. We all lost weight, but felt great doing it. The owners and staff work very hard to make the place go. They are friendly, courteous, and helpful. Everything was not perfect...but as close to it as I have seen in a long time We will definitely go back!. .

A GOLD NUGGET EXPERIENCE
CLASSY is the best descriptive word for Chicken RV Camp. Stocked with unique "untouristy" souvenirs and items for sale, this clean, very well run and highly organized outpost in the tiny town of Chicken also has an amazing menu of delicious and many times homemade food, hard to come by otherwise in such a remote location. Prices are reasonable and the many activity offerings are musts for travelers. Visits to the relocated Pedro dredge or opportunities to gold pan or go kayaking or even a daily trip up to a gold mine, transportation included, are invaluable experiences.The hard working family behind this jewel of an outpost is friendly, gives great service all the time, generous, and constantly there for your comfort.
