nice spot on a clear day

a young native boy, 10 years old - saw us trying to find the hidden entrance. he offered to chauffer / escort us up the hill and told us all about the site, what he is learning in school about Sitka history and was overall quite the young gentleman. Made our day! Thank you!!!

A lot of history and a beautiful view.....
We spent about an hour visiting the castle site and learning about the history of Sitka. We did not know this was the site that Alaska was formally transferred to the United States of America. The view from the top is beautiful. It is well worth the time and effort to visit this site.

    Excellent View in Sitka
This is a good place to see and learn about some history in Sitka. There are a lot of stairs so if you have a hard time with stairs, there is a wheelchair path.
