Arctic Interagency Visitor Center, Milepost 174.8, James Dalton Hwy, Coldfoot, Alaska.

IF you get to Coldfoot, Alaska, on the Dalton Highway, you MUST NOT miss visiting the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center, located near Milepost 174.8, on the James Dalton Hwy, here in Coldfoot, Alaska. It rivals any visitor center that we have ever visited anywhere, any time. I can't imagine someone being in Coldfoot and not visiting the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center. It is spotless. The displays are phenomenal. They have a great movie. The staff are excellent. They have a gift shop that is very nice. You can just rest and relax, no hurry, no worry. I say that because we are driving our own vehicle on this trip up here so we are not tied to the schedule of a tour bus / van. IF you got here .. Congratulations. You are a Big Time Alaska Traveler.

A wonderful visitor center at the middle of the Dalton Highway
The Arctic Interagency Visitor Center has a lot of interesting information about the Brooks Range and is situated between Gates of the Arctic National Park and the wildlife refuges of the Arctic, Kanuti and Yukon Flats. There are always ranger programs at 8pm and sometimes film screenings about the wildlife, history or northern lights. The interpretive trails around the visitor center are worth a visit too! Also, best and cleanest flushing toilets on the highway, those are a major plus!!

A must visit in Arctic Alaska along the Dalton
For information & souvenirs for Gates of the Arctic national park, & other agencies in this part of the state a great stop on a long but scenic journey on the Dalton Highway (state route 11). Bob was fun & informative during our 1 hour stop here. I wish they would of had post cards & hiking stick medallions for Gates of the Arctic here but all else was excellent at this visitor center. Education information about life north of the Arctic Circle, the people, the landscape, & the wildlife in Arctic Alaska
